Here are the details on an excellent and natural way to answer your question: How to reduce eye strain. I have been using the eye strain treatment with heat and cold for more than three years now. It is very effective! You feel the whole area around the eyes relax immediately! This eye strain treatment is quick and easy to do at your home or office.
How to reduce eye strain: Treatment with heat and cold – using a towel
This eye strain treatment is based on interchangeably applying heat and cold to the area around the eyes that feels tense. You start with heat for 15 seconds (approximately), than cold for 15 seconds, and repeat two more times. (Be careful not tu burn yourself!)
How to reduce eye strain: use a small towel, wet it with hot water and cover your eyes, forehead and temples with it for 15 seconds. Then wet the towel with cold water and cover your face again (as shown in the image). Do this three times.
However, while using a towel works well at home, you might find it awkward to use at work, where you are likely to need eye strain relief the most. But don’t worry, there is a shortcut to this eye strain treatment that will solve this inconvenience.

Another way to carry out the hot & cold eye strain treatment is not to use the towel but just hot and cold water. How to reduce eye strain:
- go to the nearest faucet,
- let run hot or cold water,
- put your hands together to form a pool of water (see photo), and
- dip your eyes and forehead into the pool while letting the water run into your hands on one side of your head.
You may apply this treatment as often as necessary. There might be times at work when you need it every hour which is not a problem because the treatment requires only a few minutes but it greatly improves your short and long-term work effectiveness.
Let me know if this eye strain treatment works for you? Also, do you know any other answers to the question: How to reduce eye strain?
I learned this eye strain treatment in a workshop by Leo Angart (the shortcut, however, was my idea). More info on his workshops: www.vision-training.com. I recommend the workshop if wearing glasses bothers you to the point of being willing to do quite a bit of eye training to improve your eyesight. However, don’t expect to find many solutions dealing specifically with light sensitivity.
